Our Mrs. America: Phyllis Schlafly

Phyllis Schlafly was a national leader of the conservative movement since the publication of her best-selling 1964 book, A Choice Not An Echo. She created the pro-family movement in 1972, when she started her national volunteer organization called Eagle Forum.

Phyllis Schlafly was a heroine, a role model, and a mentor to many Americans.

On April 15th 2020, FX is releasing “Mrs. America”; a show about feminists’ push to pass the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970’s, and about the most vocal opponent of it: Phyllis Schlafly.

The creators of “Mrs. America” designed imaginary characters, are painting Phyllis as unhappy and “mean”, and are hiding behind the phrase “based on true events”. The producers declined requests to speak with Phyllis’s family while making the show.

I had the privilege of speaking with Phyllis’s daughter: speaker, author, and chairman of the Eagle Forum- Anne Schlafly Cori.
