Equal Rights Amendment
The defining cultural moment of the 1970s was the defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment and the defeat of radical feminism. ERA is not in our U.S. Constitution because Phyllis Schlafly championed the rights of women who want to be women, wives, and mothers. Phyllis Schlafly opposed ERA because she recognized that women would be harmed under ERA.
